Friday night. On the balcony in San Jose, CA drinking a bottle of Prisoner and watching the planes go by.
Kevin: "What would you like to do for Thanksgiving?"
Liz: "Well since your kids will be with their mom and us for Christmas, I guess we can go just about anywhere"
Kevin: "Wanna go see our parents?"
Liz: "I guess but I really need a vacation. One that I can relax and just worry about entertaining myself"
Kevin: "Remember that trip we took to Napa during Christmas a few years ago? That was fun right?"
Liz: "Heck yeah!" - By the way, I love our parents and family. I promise to bring a gift back to each and everyone of them. I'll make it up to them, I swear.

Liz: "Where should we go?"
Kevin: Since we travel a lot, we've built up lots of Delta, Hertz, and Marriott points naturally he says, "Anywhere! We'll use points!"
Liz: "Honestly, I just want to sit on a beach."
Kevin: "Hawaii. We should stay at the Ritz!" - now very excited, we started a travel booking frenzy for the rest of the evening.
Before I knew it, we are booked on a first-class flight a few days before Thanksgiving and staying at the gorgeous Ritz Carlton. My goodness. This is going to be fun!
I decided to blog this trip. (by the way, I hate blogging) Only because I had so much research to do before going and if even one person asks me for advice I can point them to this blog. What luau's, restaurants, hiking and entertaining things to do. It was overwhelming enough and not just that! What to pack? I plan for a living so naturally I had to be prepared making reservations so that I could just go and enjoy it all not standing in lines, figuring out where to eat when. Trust me when I say making a schedule for your vacation is actually much more helpful and doesn't make it feel structured. It helps stay relax without a worry. You don't want to just be stuck eating at the hotel every night. Most of these places need advanced reservations and relying on the hotel concierge might not always be helpful.
Anyways, here we go! Hope it all goes as planned and if not, I'm happy just being with my love and drinking mai tais on the beach.
